Guernsey Schoolchildren Invited to Celebrate Victoria Park’s First Anniversary
Over 1,000 local schoolchildren have received tickets to join Victoria Park’s first anniversary celebrations at the end of the month.
Every school across the Bailiwick received 50 free tickets for Guernsey FC’s home fixture against Peacehaven & Telscombe on Saturday 28th March to distribute to their pupils.
The initiative is part of a joint venture between Guernsey FC and Victoria Park, to make football accessible for all while encouraging players and fans of all ages to enjoy the live action on the day.
Tony Vance, Guernsey FC Manager, said: “We’re proud to have built up a loyal fan base over the years, and the support they bring to our home games is just fantastic. We’re passionate that islanders of every age have the chance to enjoy live sport, and we hope this gesture will encourage more fans to join the celebrations this weekend - whether they’re keen to cheer on their favourite player on the sidelines or be inspired to become the Green Lions and Lionesses of the future. “
Rebecca Hubbard, PE Lead at La Mare de Carteret Primary School, said: “We were very kindly gifted 50 free children’s tickets to celebrate Victoria Park’s first anniversary. It is such a fantastic opportunity for our La Mare children to experience watching this level of football. We are very lucky as an island to have this incredible facility.”
Sally Dawber, Deputy Headteacher at Castel Primary School, said: “Pupils at our school were over the moon to receive free tickets for the game on 28 March at Victoria Park. We have a huge football following at Castel School, and lots of our pupils are looking forward to coming down and cheering on Guernsey FC.”
Please note that Saturday will be a ticketed-only event. Tickets are available to purchase at www.victoriaparkgsy.byretail.net/menu.
