Following the overwhelming success of last year's inaugural campaign, which provided 86 food hampers to local families in need, Victoria Park is calling on islanders to show their generosity once again this Christmas.

Guernsey's football family is coming together once again later this month to spread a little festive cheer, as Victoria Park prepares to launch its second annual Christmas Food Bank Appeal on Saturday 14 November.

Building on the success of last year's inaugural campaign, Victoria Park, Guernsey FA, Guernsey FC and Aztech Soccer are encouraging islanders, local businesses, schools and community groups to get behind the initiative and help make Christmas a little brighter for families facing difficult circumstances.

The 2025 appeal saw an incredible response from the local community, with generous donations helping to create nearly 100 hampers, which were distributed to families in need across the island in partnership with the States of Guernsey.

This year, the football family is hoping to build on that success by bringing the community together to help even more islanders during the festive period.

Hayley Vance, Victoria Park Events Co-ordinator and Campaign Manager, said: "We were absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of islanders last Christmas. To be able to provide 86 food hampers to local families in our very first year was a fantastic achievement, and something everyone involved can be incredibly proud of.

"Christmas is a time for giving, but we also recognise that it can be an especially challenging time for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Our aim is to help ease some of that pressure and ensure as many families as possible can enjoy a little festive cheer - we'd love to make this year's appeal even more successful."

A spokesperson for the States of Guernsey's Family Support Services said: “The generosity shown by our island community through last year's appeal made a real difference to the families who received support, helping to ease some of those pressures and bring a little extra joy at Christmas.

“We're delighted to see Victoria Park and Guernsey's football family coming together once again for this wonderful initiative. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference, and we'd encourage islanders to give whatever they can to help make Christmas a little brighter for families in need.”

The initiative reflects Victoria Park's commitment to being more than just a football stadium, bringing together the island's football community to support worthwhile causes and make a positive difference beyond the pitch.

How to get involved

The Christmas Food Bank Appeal launches on Saturday 14 November, with islanders invited to donate non-perishable food items and help create Christmas hampers for local families.

Suggested donations include:

  • Tinned and dried foods
  • Pasta, rice and other cupboard essentials
  • Tea, coffee and hot chocolate
  • Biscuits, chocolates and festive treats
  • Christmas puddings and other non-perishable seasonal favourites

Donations can be dropped off at the designated food banks situated at the Guernsey FA offices, Victoria Park between Saturday 14 November and Saturday 5 December.
