Guernsey FA and Victoria Park Shortlisted For Prestigious Award

The Guernsey FA is celebrating after being shortlisted for the Facility Development award at the County FA Recognition Awards 2025 in honour of its work on the development of Victoria Park.
The Awards, which will be announced at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Thursday 6 November 2025, recognise and endorse the best projects, products and services delivered by County FAs over the past season while sharing best practice and learnings from around the country.
This year has seen a record-breaking number of nominations submitted, with over 250 nominations received from the 50 County FAs operating across England, highlighting exceptional delivery and showcasing how they are innovating to improve grassroots football and increase participation across all levels of the game.
The Guernsey FA was shortlisted for the Facility Development category amongst five other national finalists, comprising Birmingham FA, Kent FA, Devon FA and Northumberland FA.
Victoria Park opened in March 2025, providing the island community with a lasting legacy: a transformational football facility to benefit current and future generations. Since launch, Victoria Park has helped the Association meet several strategic objectives, including increasing football participation, specifically among women and girls, supporting local club football, developing opportunities for underrepresented groups, providing new recreational opportunities, and growing partnerships that benefit the game and wider island community.
Guernsey FA CEO Gary Roberts commented: “To be a finalist in the County FA recognition Awards is great news for the Guernsey FA, and more recognition for Victoria Park. The project to build Guernsey’s new ‘Home of Football’, and the opening in March of this year, was the culmination of many years of planning and perseverance and now, not only marks a huge chapter in the island’s football history, but also provides an unrivalled opportunity to develop the game at all levels, and effect positive change.
To be a finalist in the County FA recognition Awards is great news for the Guernsey FA, and more recognition for Victoria Park.
“Victoria Park, with its 3G stadia pitch, and ancillary facilities, is the first permanent home of the Guernsey FA in over 130 years. This fantastic facility is now the community hub that Guernsey FA is using to drive the game forward, introducing new opportunities, addressing identified needs, sourcing new investment into the game, and continuing to serve the game and wider island community. The facility has also been the catalyst to support new career opportunities with additional employees added to the workforce. The future for football in the island is exciting, and all at the Guernsey FA are looking forward to ensuring Victoria Park is utilised to achieve our strategic objectives.”
The FA’s Head of Operations for Grassroots Football, Tim Foster added: "Congratulations to all of the County FAs shortlisted for this year’s County FA Recognition Awards. These awards celebrate the outstanding work taking place across the country to strengthen and grow grassroots football so it continues to thrive in the future. Each shortlisted project showcases true innovation and impact, and we are proud to recognise their achievements and celebrate the vital contribution our County FAs make to the game."
