The Guernsey FA (GFA) has announced the appointment of Seb Vance as Football Development Officer and Aimee Ogier as Football Administration Officer as the team moves into its first-ever permanent home at Victoria Park.

The appointments boost the GFA’s team to six full-time staff members and 11 part-time employees, underpinning the Association’s commitment to developing football at every level and opening up local recruitment opportunities within the sport.

In addition to operating and managing Victoria Park for the benefit of the local football community, the expanded workforce will enable the GFA to increase and enhance its activity within local clubs and schools, create new participation opportunities, and support the extensive volunteer workforce that is vital to the continued success of the local game.

In his new role, Seb will support delivery of coaching in local schools and the GFA Aztech Academy. He will also support representative age groups and High-Performance programmes as well and developing local coaches through CDP training. Supporting Victoria Park’s facility operations, including monitoring site maintenance and health and safety standards, will also be part of Seb’s new remit.

Aimee will be responsible for managing the Guernsey FA’s general football administration, including supporting local club and league activity, while also undertaking social media and marketing activity. In addition, Aimee will oversee the daily operations of Victoria Park’s cutting-edge technology systems, including content management across the stadium’s multiple electronic screens.

Speaking of the new appointments, Gary Roberts, CEO of the GFA, said:

“Victoria Park’s opening is a major milestone for Guernsey football and the start of what we all hope will be an amazing legacy for our sport. Football remains the largest participant and spectator sport in Guernsey, evident from the fantastic attendance over the opening weekend, and these new appointments mean the GFA is in the best possible position to support the game’s growth.

Seb and Aimee both bring new skills and experience to the team and, alongside several new part-time hires, I am delighted that we have created new job opportunities within a sport that we are all so passionate about.

Seb said: “I’ve already been involved in so many different aspects at the GFA, from coaching and supporting the GFA Aztech Academy and U16 representative squad to delivering CPD coaching for local coaches in partnership with the FA – it’s been incredible. That brilliant opening weekend, when we welcomed well over 3000 people across the two days, was an amazing experience – personally, collectively with the team, and as part of the island community.

“In my new role, I’m looking forward to supporting the GFA in achieving its ambitions to grow the game while ensuring Victoria Park becomes a venue that everybody can enjoy. It is certainly an exciting time to be joining the GFA and working in local football.”

Aimee said: “Having joined the GFA just before Victoria Park’s opening weekend, I had the privilege of being part of a passionate team dedicated to ensuring everything ran smoothly, from managing the welcome screens to LED boards around the pitch perimeter. It was incredible to be part of such a landmark event for the local community, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Guernsey football, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead in my role as the Football Administrator Officer.”
