Celebrating Our Unsung Sporting Heroes with the Pride of Guernsey Awards

Pride of Guernsey promo

Behind every successful sports club, thriving team and memorable sporting event are volunteers whose dedication often goes unseen. From coaches and committee members to matchday helpers and fundraisers, these individuals dedicate their time, energy and passion to ensure sport continues to flourish across Guernsey.

That is why Victoria Park is proud to sponsor the Sports Volunteer Award at this year’s Pride of Guernsey Awards, recognising those who make an extraordinary contribution to local sport and the wider community.

As Guernsey’s home of football, Victoria Park has quickly established itself as a community hub that brings people together and where sport and shared experiences thrive. Whether hosting local clubs and schools, welcoming supporters on matchdays, or staging major events, volunteers play a vital role in creating the positive atmosphere and opportunities that make sport accessible to everyone.

Their impact extends far beyond the pitch. Volunteers help build confidence, develop life skills, foster friendships and create a sense of belonging for people of all ages. They are often the driving force behind grassroots sport, ensuring clubs and organisations can continue to provide opportunities for participation and enjoyment.

Victoria Park Director Rob Jones said: "Volunteers are the lifeblood of sport in Guernsey. Their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to give their time make an enormous difference to players and communities across the island.

“At Victoria Park, we see first-hand the positive impact volunteers have, not just in helping sport happen, but in bringing people together and creating opportunities for others. We are delighted to support the Pride of Guernsey Sports Volunteer Award and help celebrate the individuals who give so much without expecting anything in return."

If you know someone who consistently goes above and beyond to support local sport, this is your chance to nominate them and ensure their efforts receive the recognition they deserve.

Nominations open on Sunday 2 August, with voting open on Thursday 27 August. For more information and to nominate, visit www.prideofguernsey.gg/awards/sports-volunteer/
